Bees are incredible creatures.
The amount of work that they do to create honey is astonishing, and one that is very inspiring to me as an artist. In fact, I believe that no animal works as hard as the humble bee to produce honey. From serving the hive to pollinating our flowers, we have simply too much to thank the bee for besides enjoying a delicious bowl of honey. Without bees, our flowers could not have blossomed, and without that, much of the fruits we enjoy would not have arrived at our tables.
Just as the bees are connected with each other, so are humans. The bees all serve their queen and this relationship between the bees and their queen keeps the hive thriving. Humans also depend on each other for survival. Think of this: how many of us can actually produce their food or produce their personal clothes or create the hundreds of thousands of things that we use on a daily basis. The answer to this question is: that we don’t. None of us can grow our own foods, let alone produce the goods that we use.
Thus, we should all be a little more grateful to our fellow human beings, and focus on the things that unite us rather than the ones that divide us. ‘Bee grateful’ is a quirky way of saying that we should all be more grateful to enjoy life as we know it. I got the inspiration for creating these collections of the artwork after watching a documentary on bees where I was astonished to find the great lengths that bees would go through just to serve their queen and produce honey.
The pattern design reflects the appearance of bees and I prominently featured the color yellow on the surface design to signify the color of the bees and honey. The ’Bee Grateful’ art collections have a simple and playful appearance thus it presents a welcoming sight to all its beholders. The color palette used in these collections has a friendly and uplifting tone to invite everyone to watch the bees with awe and amazement. I hope that the people who appreciate this artwork will be able to understand the message of the bees and feel a little more connected with their peers and their family. I also hope this playful message of unity and connectivity and of inclusivity gets through to everyone who enjoys my artwork.
