Benefits of Creating Digitally.

Every artist has their personal process.

The benefits of creating digitally, and these are really the reasons why I enjoy the digital art process. People who are just starting out in their art career or thinking about rekindling their passion for art may think about opting for digital art or traditional art. For such people, I am writing this piece so that you can draw your own conclusions as to which art form is best suited to one’s needs.

First of all, the difference between traditional art and digital art is that traditional artists use traditional mediums to create their art pieces whereas a digital artist uses a combination of digital tools to create art.

There are many advantages and disadvantages of both these art mediums. Let’s take a look at some of the pros of traditional art.

1. Traditional art has a physical footprint. This is why it is more valuable than a digital print or copy.

2. Traditional artists intentionally leave their flaws on the final piece to create a sense of authenticity that is unique to every artist.

Now let’s take a look at some of the cons of traditional art.

1. It is very hard to remove mistakes from traditional art pieces. At best, you can only cover up your mistakes or start from scratch.

2. It is almost next to impossible to recreate a traditional art piece. You have to use a digital tool such as a camera or a scanner to recreate your art piece perfectly.

3. You require physical materials and equipment to create traditional art. Thus, when you run out of them you have to buy more to finish your art project.

Advantage of using digital artwork

Now let’s look at digital art.

As you can see, traditional art rarely has any flexibility, and that is a factor that is non-negotiable in my opinion. This is why I pursue all my art projects in digital form. These are some of the advantages of using digital artwork and the benefits of digital art.

1. Flexible – I can create anywhere with very few supplies. All I need is a pencil, a notebook, and my surface pro laptop.

2. Efficient – As a digital artist, I enjoy the fact that I can create a project quickly with very little effort from my end. The efficiency of digital art is unparalleled.

3. More forgiving – I use Photoshop, which helps me to easily remove the blemishes and mistakes from my art pieces. Thus, it is more forgiving to me and many new artists who are just starting out.

4. More experimentation and exploration – You have the freedom to experiment and explore new passions. If you are unsure about a new form of art, you can easily experiment on a digital art tool such as Adobe Illustrator and experiment with your art to find the right flare.

5. Saves space – As all the art projects are created digitally, you do not need room to store physical art pieces. Everything is safely stored on your computer and you can also save your projects on the cloud.

6. Easy preparation and easy clean up – You only need a computer, software and a tablet to get set up. Thus, the preparation process is very easy and very friendly to newcomers. The clean-up process is nonexistent as your art does not have a physical footprint.

7. Ease of duplication – Digital files can be recreated with the press of a click. Thus, it is an ideal form to work with clients.

8. Unlimited tool kit – You have access to an unlimited tool kit. Photoshop and Illustrator allow you to create as much art as you want. As a digital artist, I enjoy the fact that there is simply no limit to your possibilities.
