WHY MONET?

Monet Gardens
Monet was not always an artist I admired or appreciated. This trip to France was a new experience for me on many levels. I not only wanted to show our children what exploring the world and facing our fears can do for us as humans. So, with each day I wanted to make sure we were exploring something unique and about history. I wanted to open my own eyes.
Garden with beautiful flowers
As part of our tours, I wanted us to go to Monet’s Gardens. This is because my mom loved Monet so much and really wanted to see these beautiful gardens. She admired Monet and loved his paintings. You could say the only reason we went was because of my mom.

These gardens were breathtaking, like so many things I experienced in France. I learned that he built what he wanted to paint. I new approach to painting for his time. The pond and the beauty, yet simplicity of the bridge was awe-inspiring. To stand and see where he painted was incredible. Even his studio looked over these gardens. I would love to be able to live there and paint. The gardens of flowers were a rainbow of color.
These are memories I will cherish and wish to travel back to again one day.
The next day we went to Musee d’Orsey, where many of his pieces hang today. Another story for another day though.
