Sea turtles are also surprisingly adaptive in their behavior. Although they spend most of their lives underwater, they must come up every few hours to breathe air. When they do come out onto land (or into shallow water), female sea turtles crawl back onto the beach where they were born. They use the position of the sun to orient themselves, which is interesting because they are unable to see while crawling back up on land.
Like sea turtles, humans have distinct behaviors that allow us to function in our environments. One of the most prevalent human behaviors is migration. People move all over the world, leaving one place for another, and using the sun as a reference point to help us get around. Other animals like geese and salmon use the sun to migrate as well; we see this in their behavior much more often than we would expect.
