HOW THIS CLASS WORKS
This is a guided workshop with artist Julie McCullough.
Hello! I'm Jules, your guide in exploring the art of hand lettering. This course is perfect for beginners eager to create beautiful, unique lettering by hand. By the end of this course, you will:
1. Understand the fundamental principles, terminology, tools, and materials.
2. Master basic strokes and letterforms for consistent and pleasing letters.
3. Experiment with different styles to find your unique lettering voice.
4. Create personalized hand-lettered pieces, like quotes and greeting cards.
5. Gain confidence and enjoyment in your hand lettering abilities.
We’ll focus on practical exercises, creative exploration, and individual expression, providing a solid foundation for both enhancing your design skills and enjoying a new hobby. Let’s fill the world with our beautiful letters!
HIGH LEVEL CLASS OUTLINE:
THURSDAY - MODULE 1 -- INTRODUCTION - about lettering, the tools, the letter forms, drawing the letters
THURSDAY - MODULE 2 -- using guides, creating guides, drawing the frame | adding weight | adding style | finishing details (the skeleton, the body, the clothes), thumbnails, finding phrases, kind of serifs (bracketed, didone, slab/egyptian, tuscan/bifurcated)
FRIDAY - MODULE 3 -- Composition, Layout, and Alphabet practice and creating some words -- Merry Christmas, Hello, Enjoy the Moment
FRIDAY - MODULE 4 -- coming up with ideas, research, thumbnails, creation

Will you be offering your class at a later date? Although I am sure your price, and the cost of tools & materials are fair, they are prohibitive on such short notice. Scheduling, on such short notice, is also an issue. This is something I have wanted to do for a VERY long time (I have even purchased several books from the craft stores, but have not accomplished anything on my own!) Thank you for your time, JTBurton
