Hi, I'm Jules
CHILDREN'S BOOK ILLUSTRATOR | SURFACE DESIGNER | CREATOR
I'm Jules — children's book illustrator, surface designer, and lifelong maker of things. After 25 years building a career in commercial interior design — winning awards, managing complex projects, directing creative teams — I came back to what I was always meant to be doing: making art. Not as a side hobby. As the work. I'm based in the southern United States, where I live with my husband, three kids, and two Cavalier pups who supervise everything I make.
My Story
The design career wasn't a detour. Twenty-five years of commercial interior design taught me how to think about color at scale, how a single visual decision ripples through an entire room, how to build something beautiful under real constraints.
I brought all of that back into the studio with me. What changed was who I was making things for. Now it's for the kid who needs to see themselves in a story. For the brand that wants artwork with a genuine point of view. For the licensing partner who needs work that holds up across a full product line. I work digitally with a painterly style rooted in watercolor and gouache — warm, character-driven, and built to feel like something you'd want to hold in your hands.
