Traveling solo, you should try it!

Solo adventure travel

Traveling solo...

When I first decided to go on an around-the-world trip (not really around the world), most people had trouble understanding why. Many frowned and said I was “crazy and insane.” Some laughed and told me it was “just a phase” that I’d eventually “get over.” And some even thought I was doing it to escape from something – a bad breakup, a shady past, or even “nothing at all.”

Some may think I am crazy and some are jealous, let me tell you it is one of the best things I have done! I did not realize I needed this time as much as I did.

Long story shortened, I found some certificates my mom had not used for traveling to some specific resorts and they were going to expire within the next month. SO, my husband suggested I just go by myself, I can work from anywhere and I make my own schedule. I decided YES! and I am so glad I did. It was fabulous!

Now, understand that when I go on vacation I like to slow things down, go with the flow and forget the plans. When my husband and kids go on vacation they have many plans and are looking for the next exciting thing to do. Not me. I want to lay at the beach, swim, read, and just relax. This was a perfect opportunity for just that. Yay me!!!

What I realized while traveling.

1 – I am an only child. (already knew this but I realized why I needed to be alone)

2 – I have worked from the home, alone, since 2003.

3 – Since March of 2020 I have had a husband working from home, and kids around doing virtual school, this school year they have been in school though.

4 – I have not had any alone time since 2020 and before the pandemic, I was carrying for my mom. So, it has been a long time since I was really alone.

I realized that I need my space, seriously I do. Before I left I have been depressed off and on. Trying to rebuild my business. Trying to find balance and routine. When I was caring for my mom I worked part-time. When she passed away I wasn’t really working anymore because of dealing with her passing, and the pandemic wiping out a bunch of projects. This year I am trying to rebuild and switch directions. I just haven’t been feeling like myself and something either needed to give or I needed a serious alignment. Well I got it!

Adventure vacations for women

After a couple of days I started realizing the things above and how much better I was feeling. I was feeling like a shell was breaking down and I was realizing a lot of negative energy was going away.

I was able to wake up each day mediate, walk, enjoy silence, read – do what I needed to do to recharge my battery. I even went to get a Mayan Massage, and it was SO renewing! I can’t tell you how good that was.

I highly encourage you to find someway to get a couple of days to yourself. To find you so you can be a better person for your family and for yourself. Here are some of the benefits I found by traveling solo:

  1. You will get to know yourself better.
  2. You get out of your comfort zone.
  3. It will boost your confidence.
  4. You can read as many boos as you would like. (I finished 3 and read 2 more)
  5. You can rest and not feel guilty!
  6. You will have time and inspiration to work on creative projects.
Vacations to go by yourself

When most people think of traveling, they think of going on a vacation with friends or family. However, there is another option: traveling solo. Solo travel can be a great way to see the world and get to know yourself better.
